I love it when Spring starts creeping back into the picture. The air is warmer, the sun starts baking your skin, green shoots up from the dirt. The world starts shedding it's cocoon and steps into the light. The days get longer, everyone seems just happier. Then again, I do live in central New Mexico, and we don't get a quarter of the winter of other places, so thank God that I'm here otherwise I would just die. *****
I've started running again...slowly, but still going. I accomplished a goal that I had never reached before--two miles without stopping at about 11 minutes a mile. Now, growing up, I was discouraged to be extremely athletic by my mother, who saw it as extremely unladylike. But as I grew, I gained a lot of weight, peaking at about 171 when I graduated from high school. Yeah, I was unhappy, and I was fat. In high school alone, I gained appx. 50 pounds, which is not very healthy. My mother, who is a size 8 after having three children, always thought I would inherit her fast metabolism and be the mirror image of her petite frame. Throughout college, I have tried various regimens...diet and exercise as the constant...I have aerobicized, danced, yoga-ed myself out, lifted weights, ellipticized, and you know, it is funny...the only real workout I feel I get is through the one sport I have never been good at. Running. In elementary school, I remember never finishing the mile fast enough to qualify for the Presidential Fitness Challenge, which was incredibly embarassing, because I was fairly nimble and small. I was great a short distances, but I could never finish the mile. Now, at the age of 21, I can run two miles without stopping. I just find that SO strange. Throughout college, my motivation has completely changed. I have realized that I will probably not ever be a size 6, but that is no longer my motivation. All I can hope to be is happy and healthy. I have lost twenty pounds in college, and sure, I am exceptionally happy with that. But I am prouder that I can do something that I would have scoffed at ten years ago. *****
Ok, enough enlighted bullshit. I bought an MP3 player! Thank you SO MUCH Jason for getting me out of my iPod fascination!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After realizing that the iPod mini was $250, that you have to have a version of Windows that I do not, and that you must use iTunes, I finally got over my pink mini infatuation. Instead, Lisa and I bought Dell Pocket DJ's. They were $199 at the time (now they are $179 grrr), are 5 GB, and work with all of my pre-existing music files. I LOVE IT! I take it to the gym with me and it is so great to be able to change the songs so fast!! I got one of the armstraps and it doesn't skip or move at all...simply fantastic. So yay! ***** Has anyone else seen the new Britney Spears video??? It is AWESOME!!!!!!!!! If I ever wished to be Britney, it would be after I watch her videos. Although she is a trailer-trash follower now, I still rock out to her Greatest Hits CD wherever I go. Even "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman." SHUDDUP! ***** Whelp, I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend! La'az |
