Slicing Ham and Dogs

I want a dog.

Not just any dog, but a beautiful black lab puppy.

When I go to the Gallup area this summer, I hope to find my perfect dog and take him/her home. I'm not even sure why...

You know how women a little older than I look at baby commercials with a look of warmth in their eyes and a wistful gaze?

Yeah, I'm that way about a future dog.

A little sad, yet fitting.

The only things that would hold me back would be the fact that I like taking my summers away from New Mexico, but after thinking about it, I could get my parents to take care of her/him or send him/her to a nazi-like kennel.

I don't know.

I was even thinking about the first grade, when my teacher had two dogs that were considered the "class pet." It seems so strange now, considering the lawsuits that could develop, especially considering how one of the dogs bit my wrist. But then again, this was on an Air Force base in Germany, so it is a whole other can of worms.

I'm not really sure why I want a dog so damn much. Perhaps the companionship, maybe the fact that I would be responsible for a living thing, I don't know. In a Jeffers-esque poetic way, I just want something else to live with and a dog is the perfect answer.

I really want a black-lab-ish dog. My family's dog is a black lab/cocker spaniel mix and she looks like a baby lab and she is precious! I can't fathom paying money for a dog when there are so many out there without a home. So I will definitely have to check out local shelters and veterinarian offices when the time comes.

We'll see.

It has been raining the past few days, which always catalyzes my laziness. I always just want to roll up in some blankets, drink milk and eat cookies, and watch movies all day, but nooooooo, school gets in the way.

Had a lovely lunch/dinner (linner?) with Roevall. I, of course, ate way too much, but the company was super-fantastic as usual. Good times talking about Rumi, "politics", and Europe. I was also treated to the "grande" tour of a frat house, which was a first for me. I guess I was expecting a "Revenge of the Nerds" sort of set-up, but I was happily surprised to find a hotel-like really nice house.

Water-skiing...seriously, let me know!

Tonight Lisa and I went to China Star (MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM) and we did our usual buffet-style-breakdown. I managed NOT to spray her with my water after a particularly awesome joke, and we are hilarious. Then we watched "The Notebook," and I am proud to say that I refrained from crying for the first time. Go ME! Then SNL, which was pretty funny at parts, but Hilary Swank seriously needs to eat a sandwich...or make that five. Seriously girl, I don't care what you look like in a skin-tight dress, if someone were to push you, you would fall like a house of cards!

Seriously, the weight in Hollywood is beginning to freak me out. Eve? Gwen Stefani? Sheryl Crow? Losing weight does not make you look younger, and as Lisa says, you could slice ham on the hipbones of some of these ladies.

Anyhow, it is time for slumber.
