What a great weekend! I love the weekends like nobody's business, but this one was particularly productive. Friday night was fun, Roevall came over and we went to the Taco Bell and got some delish tacos and whatnot--we watched Garden State and Election, which Lisa watched with us. I think the melding of the friends went well, but Lisa was taken aback by the Mortar Board studying comments. Hee. I had to go to bed super early on Friday so I could wake up super early on Saturday. Why did I have to wake up early?? I shall tell you! I drove a mini-van of my students and Lisa to the Trinity Site, which as most of you know, was the location of the first atom bomb explosion in 1945. It is in the middle of the middle of New Mexico, in a very rural area. It was really interesting seeing the site and that there were still hundreds of people like ourselves making the pilgrimage to the site. We walked around, took pictures, bought souveniers, laughed at Lisa after she drank some radioactive water, and then left. We stopped at the Owl Cafe in San Antonio to get some of the world's best green chile cheeseburgers. Seriously guys. They take the cake. Or the chile. Whatever. Came back to campus and I took a long shower and fell asleep in my bathrobe on my bed. I woke up at 7:30, feeling like I had slept for twenty years--I walked to Subway and got a sammich. Had an interesting encounter with a homeless man--apparently, I am an angel of the Lord. Anyway, I did all of my laundry--including my comforter and I organized my closet. Man, I am a nerd. But hey, I'm proud of it. So turned my clock over, went to church in the morning, grocery shopping in the afternoon--took another nap (yay naps). Basically? I slept this weekend. And it was GLORIOUS. I would like to apologize to my friends for the next three weeks. You will not hear much from me. HELLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOO THESIS. |
