Fresh from my travels... Things I love about Chicago: 1. Ellyn lives there! Need I say more? 2. Lou Malnati's pizza. It's like what you hope every slice of pizza will taste like. But in reality. Crazy good. 3. The CUBS! Cubs apparel, fellow Cubs fans, free Cubs cups, the Cubs clean-up crew that WILL take your picture if asked nicely, Wrigley field, Cubs fans that spill beer on you and poke you in the eye. Large statues of Harry Carey. Eight dollar Bud Lights. Catching Cubs bracelets from eight year old girls. 4. The beach. Biggest lake I've ever seen, best back of the legs sunburn I've ever received. 5. Greektown and assorted grocery stores of goodness. The waiter that was rude until he found out we are probably 8th cousins. 6. Frappes. Ordered. At. A. Restaurant. IN. THE. UNITED. STATES! 7. Dancing at an eighties club that played Bruce, Mellencamp, and did I mention PRINCE? 8. Tapas Restaurant. Not Topless Restaurant. Thanks. 9. Dunkin Donuts on EVERY street corner. The 2nd city has the highest density of dunkin donuts that I have ever seen. Heaven? Methinks so. 10. Tall, pretty building that I will never set foot in, regardless of who designed them:) Things I Love About San Francisco (play that song again, San Fran, redux 5) 1. Being able to hang out with Lisar and my brother for an entire week, unstopped, concentrated! 2. Shopping at the Westfield Center, Union Square, and Powell Street. 3. Living statue at the Wharf...and taking pictures with him. 4. AWESOME seats at the Giants/Dodgers game. Eating some awesome garlic fries. Having the not-so-awesome next day garlic fries aftershocks. 5. Going to Coit tower (finally) and seeing some amazing panoramic San Francisco on a clear day. 6. Watching the documentary "The Bridge," which has people ending their life on the bridge and then driving across it hours later, paranoid about possible jumpers. 7. THE SUSHI, THE SUSHI, THE SUSHI!!! And the chowder...and the pizza...and the seafood...and the donuts....and the IN and OUT! 8. Amazing water pressure in John's shower. I'm still regrowing skin on my back. 9. NOT getting a transfer ticket. 10. Beautiful weather for a trip to Muir Woods, where I was almost sure I saw an Ewok! ======================================= Year Three begins shortly... |
